The Concept
An Irregular Pentagon
The house is conceived as an irregular pentagon with an open-ended courtyard that frames views of the sky and horizon. The courtyard "Outdoor Living Room" is the aesthetic and functional focus of the house — and its grandest space.
Exterior approach
Site & Placement
Tailored to Its Boundaries
The house is tailored to its boundaries and topography, and precise in its placement: located at the rear of the site and elevated sufficiently to encourage outdoor living and optimize views, visual privacy, and solar performance.

Light & Shadow
Southern California Light
Deep roof overhangs shade large expanses of glass and initiate the play of Southern California light and cooling shadow, conditioning exterior spaces for regular day-to-day use. Space flows uninterrupted — outside to inside to outside.
